Make tutorials

Visual scenarios for the workflows Zapier cannot do cheaply.

Make, formerly Integromat, is the tool to reach for when a Zapier automation starts to feel expensive or cramped. Its scenarios are drawn as a flowchart, which takes an afternoon to get used to and then makes branching, loops and data transformation far easier to see and fix. The free plan gives you 1,000 operations a month and two active scenarios, which is enough to run a real, if modest, workflow for a small business at no cost.

This section collects Make guides I have built and run on my own account. Each one is a single scenario with a clear business purpose: saving Gmail attachments to Drive, pushing new Shopify orders into a Google Sheet, turning a Typeform submission into a Notion page, or sending a Slack message when a Stripe payment fails. The guides show every module’s settings, explain the parts that trip people up, such as iterators and aggregators, and give an honest operation count so you know what it will cost when the volume grows.

Make’s pricing is based on operations rather than tasks, and one scenario run can use several operations. That difference is why Make is often three to five times cheaper than Zapier for the same job, but it also means a careless scenario can burn through a free plan in a day. Where a guide uses a pattern that is operation-hungry, I flag it and show the cheaper structure.

If you are not sure whether Make or Zapier fits your business better, the comparisons section has a direct, up-to-date comparison on price, app coverage and learning curve. Otherwise, pick a scenario below, follow the screenshots, and you should have it running inside the time shown at the top of the guide.
